Geocache Description:

This is one of a series of five caches placed in the grounds of Powis Castle and the deer park, as managed by the National Trust. The caches include traditional and multicache locations; and the names reflect animals that you may encounter. Placed with the kind permission of Dave Swanton, Garden Operations Manager, Powis Castle.

This is a simple traditional cache placed adjacent to the car park for Powis Castle. Access to the car park is also available on foot from Welshpool - check the access times at the gate in town.

This cache has three main factors that must be considered:-

(1) The location is in plain sight from a very large car park - MUGGLE factor is very high, be very careful not to be observed

(2) The scramble to the location is steeper than it looks and is slippery in all weathers due to either dusty soil or mud. This cache is STRONGLY NOT RECOMMENDED for children. Please access the location as safely as possible and do so AT YOUR OWN RISK.

(3) Please be advised that ticks are prevalent within the Powis Castle deer park, especially during the current summer (2014). The Cache Owner encountered three ticks on the last maintenance check. Regular checks are made on these ticks, there has been no evidence of any Powis Castle ticks carrying Lyme Disease. Check yourselves carefully.
