Long ago, a small loop trail was built with markers for some well known old growth trees. Currently that trail is just over a five mile bike ride/hike on FS 2452 from the wildlife gate almost two miles beyond crossing the causeway at the north end of Lake Cushman
The wildlife gate (normally closed from October 1 until May 1) is now shut because the Elk Creek culvert is washed out. An attempt to replace it was made in 2012. The road is in good condition beyond that with a few fallen trees, one being an old growth snag, and a rock fall hindering the way. A small container has been placed at an excellent speciman of a Douglas Fir. The way trail gateway to Snow Lake is also from this trail and parallels Four Stream Creek. Enjoy the view from the attached picture below. Snow lake is a climb of 1300' over .6 miles.
Many thanks to luckykoi for guiding me to the grove and the lake.
