Matthew’s family and friends (a group of 21) made this trip to place this geocache in one of his favorite forest areas where he brought many of his relatives and friends. We gathered to remember Matthew and enjoy the beauty of the Sequoia National Forest and Nobe Young Falls.
Park in the large parking area that is unsigned on the north side of the road. Follow the old logging road from the unsigned parking area down the trail to the creek and waterfall. Many in our party utilized the help of trekking poles, as it is a short, yet steep hike. This cache is located in a spot where you can also view the falls.
This geocache is a Plano plastic ammo box that is painted camo. Size is 9.5 X 4.25 X 6. In remembrance of Matthew Ahrens, we placed many items that were either special to him, reminded us of him, or were just fun. Items include: Stargate DVD, metal toy airplane, $10 in Peruvian currency, collectible fuel truck, wine opener, toy pop gun, toy wrench, large Swiss army knife, small Swiss army knife, electrical tape, Mesuza that was brought back from Jerusalem by Matthew's mother - Mary Ahrens, Chrysler key chain, beer caps, flint fire starter, motorcycle sun catcher, etc. There is also a log book.
