IN NEED OF MAINTENANCE!
NOTE: Many thanks to all the users about the updates needed for our geocache trail and in particular claiming the final prize. Please know we are working on this and hope to have it completed by January.
History and Route Management
This length of disused railway line is known as the Hudson Way. The original line goes between Market Weighton and Beverley. The line was in existence for just 100 years – between 1865 and 1965.
This section is named after George Hudson – also known as the Railway King
Hudson was Lord Mayor of York on three occasions and a major developer of the railways, which brought him great success, but also his downfall when he was made bankrupt after it was uncovered that he was overcharging the railway company where the line ran across his land.
The site is now managed as a wildlife corridor by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council
