Geocache Description:

A cache has been placed as a companion to historic GC34F "Ruahine". Allow 1 1/2 to 2 hours to reach the hut. This is a popular day walk or easy overnight tramp to the tussock tops of the Whanahuia Range in Ruahine Forest park.

Enjoy the new family-friendly track to Rangiwahia hut. The first hut was built here in the 1930's by the Rangiwahia Ski club.  A rope tow was constructed and a few relics still exist.  The latest version of this hut was built in 1984.
Access to the hut is from the end of Renfrew Road. 
To find the cache take the path from the hut that goes uphill to a seat. The cache is a 2 litre plastic screw top container.
