A backcountry drive in a scenic area. The road is rutted out and bumpy, but should be fine for a high clearance vehicle or 4 wheel drive. The cache is hidden about 4 miles from pavement. Take the Christopher Mountain Fire Control Road from Highway 260 and follow your GPS. Not far from a good pullout, about 300 feet off the road.
Every year, the Hellsgate Fire Department Auxilliary hosts a bake sale to raise money for the fire department. They have great cookies, sheetcakes, and other baked goodies. We try to support the local fire department by purchasing the items for sale. Our favorite is the snickerdoodles. Usually we purchase the cookies in a tin, and recycle the container into a cache. This year the cookies were in ziploc baggies. When we asked about the tins, they pulled some empty tins from behind the table. We picked out a nice one and added it to our purchases. They wondered why we wanted the tin without the cookies. Heh heh heh. If they only knew...
