Yes folks, it's that time again. Time to give back to our local communities for allowing us to place our caches throughout Brevard County in all of their wonderful parks and open areas.

The Melbourne Causeway is composed of three bridges and connects the municipalities of Melbourne and Indialantic across the Indian River Lagoon here in Brevard County. The causeway is part of U.S. 192 (also known as SR 500), whose eastern terminus is located approximately 2 miles east of the bridge, at SR A1A. East of the bridge, the road is known locally as Fifth Avenue. On the western side, the road continues through downtown Melbourne as Strawbridge Avenue.

The main high-rise span is officially known as the Ernest Kouwen-Hoven Bridge, dedicated on 28 May 1978. This name is not used locally and only appears in official government documents.

This cleanup event will start at 9:00 a.m. and will go until 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning, June 22nd. Bring gloves and grabbers if you have them. We will have some grabbers and gloves graciously provided by Keep Brevard Beautiful, as well as garbage bags and plenty of ice-cold water. Come prepared to work. Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing for working in and around water and rocks and lets be careful. Please be prompt, so we can pack away as much trash as possible in our two hour event. At 10:30-ish, we'll work to centralize the trash collected back to cleanup headquarters and snap our 'job well done' photos.

Where there's water and humans, there's trash.
