Roots of a Town
Kennedale is named for Oliver S. Kennedy, a prominent Fort Worth attorney who, along with John D. Hudson and C.B. Teague, bought land in 1882 near the site of a mineral well. The town was platted and established in 1886. A central business district developed near the mineral well, with a train depot, hotel, general merchandise store, drug store, bank, post office, lumber company, and blacksmith. By 1890, Kennedale had a public school and formed a school district in 1909.
The second cache of this series is located on city property south of Village Creek. You are looking for a small container with a log book, room for small trades, and additional information you will need to find the final stage of this series -- K.C. #4: Brick Yard Bonus -- a large bonus cache with plenty of room for swag. You will also need information from K.C. #1: The Battle of Village Creek and K.C. #3: Fort Worth & New Orleans to find the bonus and complete the Kennedale Cache series.
Park at the recommended parking coordinates and hike directly to the cache, which will keep you on city-owned property. (The city's property also includes the closest half of the jungle bordering to the north, where we can all be thankful the cache is not!) If you have time, bring a fishing pole, but definitely "catch and release!"
Congratulations to TX wino for another First-to-Find!
