Geocache Description:

An easy park-and-grab; no need to enter the airport if the gate is closed.

This cache is the last of six on the Perry County Geocaching Trail, a project created by members of the University Fellows Experience at the University of Alabama's Honors College. Our mission is to highlight the natural and cultural resources of Perry County, an area located in the heart of Alabama's historic Black Belt region, in order to promote tourism and community development.

-----

Vaiden Field is located in the southern part of Perry County, between the two main municipalities of Marion and Uniontown. The 6,377-foot runway hosts an average of 172 aircraft operations per month, and thus represents a great opportunity for Perry County’s economic growth.

The airstrip is home to the annual Vaiden Fly-In event, and to Marion Military Institute’s “Flying Tigers” flight training program.

-----

The cache is small in size and contains a logbook, pen, and some trinkets to swap, as well as information about the site. Good luck!
