Geocache Description:

A Magnetic Keyholder

Yup! Wood! Originally built in 1909.

Used to be that there were many right of way paved using wood but after a while the wood supply was used up. As time passed most of the wood was removed and other materials were used.

This alley had escaped the update! ... until 2011 when the city came along and replace it with brick and concrete. There was a movement amongst the public to bring the wooden alley back and later in 2011 the alley was reconstructed.

The old method was to use cedar blocks soaked in creosote (to keep out moisture) but this material was not as plentiful nor cheap and black locust was used (an invasive species in the south).

I am not sure but it appears that the west end might be the old pavers as it does look older.
