The Bluff Trail is a 1.5-mile trail in Fort Flagler State Park. This trail intersects with many others in the park and features outstanding views of the mountains and water. The historic Revere Battery is located nearby, as well as one of the park's four paragliding launch sites. This Lock-n-Lock container is located along the western edge of a large grassy clearing.
Battery Paul Revere is named for Colonel and Brevet Brigadier General Paul Joseph Revere. He was mortally wounded while in command of his regiment at Gettysburg during the charge of Pickett’s division against the Union center. Colonel Revere was the grandson of patriot Paul Revere. Constructed from 1897 to 1899, Battery Revere cost $60,000. Batteries Revere, Wilhelm and Rawlings constituted the “Main Gun Line” at Fort Flagler. The guns at Battery Revere were removed and sold to Canada during World War II.
