Pearrygin Lake State Park is a camping park with more than 1,200 acres in the Methow Valley. The park offers expansive green lawns leading to 11,000 feet of waterfront on Pearrygin Lake. Old willows and ash provide shade on hot summer days. The lake offers swimming, fishing and boating, and hikers can walk the Rex Derr Trail, a 3.1-mile loop through the east campground and along the shrub steppe hillside above Pearrygin Lake. While summer temperatures are in the 80s and 90s, winter temperatures can go well below zero.
Pleistocene glaciation formed the Methow Valley and all the little valleys that hold lakes. Pearrygin Lake's waters come from underground springs and Pearrygin Creek. Water flows down off surrounding mountains into the Pearrygin Lake basin.
The park land was purchased in 1959 from a local orchardist, and opened in 1964 as a state park recreation area. Renovation and construction of the campground was done in 1972. In 2004, ninety-four acres, including a store, hayfield and the West Campground, were added to the park.
Hours:
Park is open year-round for day use.
Summer: 6:30 a.m. to dusk
Winter: Campground day use until Oct. 31; closed Oct. 31 - April 7. Parking area and roads are plowed for day hiking, snowshoeing, and XC skiing access in winter.
