Go Illini - Louie Tieman Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

illinitrekker: Too many bogus logs. Hate to let this one go -- the namesake has done so much for geocaching in the area. No longer able to maintain.

Geocache Description:

This is meant to be an easy hide. You are looking for a magnetic film cannister at the end of a guard rail. Bring a writing instrument. I selected a location that provides plenty of room to pull safely off the road. US-79 is technically a north-south highway. This cache is on the northbound side.

Consider this a payback for a couple of area cachers that helped me quite a bit. Each cache in the series will highlight a famous University of Illinois alum.

Although I usually hate them, brief logs are okay. However, if you find several in the series, I would appreciate one longer log that describes your experience.

Since this is the last in the series that I plan to place along this stretch, I decided to honor the man that inspired it. If you have been following the series, you know that each cache highlights someone famous associated with my alma mater, the University of Illinois. You might be inclined then to ask "what qualifies louie69 for the series?" Well, believe it or not, he gave several years of his life in service to that great institution. I will leave it to him to fill in the details. When the Big Ten expanded and added the University of Nebraska, it named its two divisions Legends and Leaders. Kind of ironic that they named one division after the namesake for this cache! At any rate, those of you that know him know he has a heart of gold. My wife and I were fortunate enough to meet him at MOGA 2013 and the non-logging member immediately bonded with him (that says something).

Will all you FTF hounds lay back and let the honoree have just one more?
