Cache Information
Free one disc hour parking is available on the Main Street and there are various Car Parks around the town within easy walking distance to the library.
Cockermouth Library is a multi-cache. The listed coordinates are for Cockermouth Library, which is the geozone where the cache is located. A huge thank you to Cockermouth Library for allowing us to place our cache here. Please be respectful of the location and adhere to the rule of the library.
All the clues for the first part of this multi-cache can be found in and around the Cockermouth History Wall located in Old Kings Arms Lane the entrance of which is at N54 39.822 W003 21.912.
Once you have gathered all the clues, convert them to the second stage’s co-ordinates. This is a short walk away (but not as short as you might first think!). At the second stage’s co-ordinates you will find a magnetic key holder. Inside the key holder will be the information you need to find the final cache which is located inside Cockermouth Library.
Please be careful when opening the cache in order not to damage it. It may be a bit tricky for geokids (both young and old!) to open.
The cache is a regular sized container which contains only a logbook and a pen. It is suitable for TBs should you wish to leave any. Sadly, due to the age of the building, the final cache is not wheelchair accessible.
Please Note: The cache can only be found during the library’s opening hours.

Further information will be found inside the magnetic key holder to allow you to locate and open the final cache which is inside Cockermouth Library.

About Cockermouth Library
There has been a library in Cockermouth since 1762. Originally located in the old Grammar School it was set up “intending to be a Lending Library for the Use and Benefit of such Clerymen as shall be nominated thereto by the Trustees”. This original Bray Library was restricted in its membership, but the Cockermouth Book Club, founded in 1785, was open to all. The Cockermouth Book Club changed its name to Cockermouth Library sometime before 1847. Control of the library passed to the town council who organised the purchase of books and its present site. The Carnegie Library opened in.1904 in its current building which was then part of Walker’s yard. Up until 1932 you had to ask for a book at the counter, but in that year open access was introduced. The building was extended in the 1970’s where it remains largely unchanged today as a cultural hub of the community, offering access to information for all.
CONGRATULATIONS TO MRS AND MS BIGLAD ON A FTF. ;
