Welcome to the Morris Canal Park, located in Roxbury Township, NJ. This is one of my favorite parks to geocache. You can definitely get a great hike in while looking for this, and the other caches hidden in the park, as well as enjoying the historic Morris Canal. This park has a canal basin where barges waited to be lifted up the incline; the 2nd largest incline plane the Morris Canal had; a restored foundation that once housed one of the very large, water-powered Scotch Turbines that were used to lower and raise the barges traveling the canal; and of coarse the remnants of the canal itself!!!
Red Knight found the cache's current hiding spot, while out here working. He gave me the coordinates. I then placed, and created the cache page. Since I live in Roxbury (hey! I am the Roxbury Devil) I'll be maintaining the cache as well.
This is probably not the hardest puzzle in the world, but I did pick a harder one to solve! The container you are looking for is a small, square, camoflaged lock and lock container. There is plenty of swag, and a logbook inside of the cache container, and of coarse there is room for travel bugs, geocoins, and the like! For the life of me, I can't remember whether I left a pen in the cache? Oh well, I guess you'll just have to bring your own for now, or if someone has a spare pen or pencil, could you do me the favor please!. At some point in this adventure, you will have to do some bushwacking, and some muddy shoes may be had. This all depends on the time of the year, and the route you decide to take to begin your search! This means the terrain level can vary between a 2.5 and 3.5 as well.
The puzzle is Sudoku, but you will need to do some extra work to find the final coordinates. Got to the bottom left corner and number each row one (1) through nine (9), bottom to top. Go to the bottom left corner again and number each column one (1) through nine (9) left to right.
N 40 52. (2, 9) (7, 7) (6, 2)
W 074 39. (3, 3) (9, 3) (5, 4)
