Geocache Description:

North Abbey is the cemetery for Youghal town. The remains of the original Dominican Priory, founded in 1268 by the Earl of Desmond, are an outstanding feature of the cemetery.

The Priory was noted for a small ivory statue of the Madonna and Child, making Youghal one of the main centres of pilgrimage in Europe in the latter part of the Middle Ages.

The price of a grave plot is currently 600 euro, while a 1 square metre cremation plot costs 300 euro.

The cache is placed outside the cemetery, 6 foot from the ground level, tucked between tree branches.
