Geocache Description:

The cache is located very close to a plaque which marks the spot where the first european immigrants stepped foot off the long boats from "The Strathallan". The immigrants left Gravesend, England and sailed to Timaru in 81 days. Seven people died during the voyage, two adults and five infants. There were also two births. The number of people who disembarked to live in South canterbury varies between 120 and 111 people.

The cache is in a very novel place thanks to NIWA, thats a bit of a give away but there is still abit of work to do. Don't get to paranoid about the Port security staff and their building which overlooks the cache as i have talked to the head security man and he is very interested in doing some caching in the future and asures me he won't arrest any cachers. That said, this is a very busy muggle area, stealth is required. The cache is in a public area and it is best to park across the road by the "front store shop" which is just along from the port loop bridge.
