Geocache Description:

Welcome to Murton.  Please enjoy the walk around our beautiful lochs.

The Murton Trust took its name from Murton Farm which dated back to the 18th Century.  However from 1990 to 2001 the farm became a sand and gravel quarry. Once the quarrying ended Murton Trust for Education and the Environment was set up to restore and enhance the land. The quarrying company won awards for its restoration work and assisted the Trust with some of its habitat enhancement projects.

Now Murton comprises a free to enter Nature Reserve, as well as a pay to enter kids farm and play area and other facilities. The caches are hidden around the Nature Reserve area and are never any more than a few steps from the path

PLEASE NOTE - Due to nesting birds and other wildlife Dogs are not allowed anywhere in Murton - other than safely in your car in the car park!  (Assistance Dogs are Permitted.)  We would also be grateful if you would take you litter home with you!

Find out more about the history of Murton, the animals on the farm and the educational and training work that the Trust does here....
