Geocache Description:

Micro container. BYOP. Daylight Hours Only ...and while it isn't necessary to go near any graves, please take note of how well kept such an old inactive graveyard is!

The word cemetery (from Greek κοιμητήριον 'sleeping place') implies that the land is specifically designated as a burial ground and originally applied to the Roman catacombs. The term graveyard is often used interchangeably with cemetery, but a graveyard primarily refers to a burial ground within a churchyard. The land for this graveyard was given to Poland in the year 1804 by Turhand Kirtland, who came from Wallingford, Connecticut. As agent for the Connecticut Land Company he surveyed much of this Western Reserve Territory. In his grant, he also included lands for the Village Green. The Samuel K. Hine will, bequeathed in 1962, provides for the maintenance of both the old graveyard and the green.
