Geocache Description:

This cache is the sixth of a new series that takes you around the pathways around the now used fishing lakes that originally was the site of some of the major mining of iron ore within the Furness peninsula. Please be aware a good pair of walking boots, or wellies are required as the paths can be very boggy. Please be aware no dogs are permitted around this area (FFA rules)

This cache is placed near the remains of Violet engine house which has been left for nature to take over and is now probably used as a house for many animals ;-) Behind this structure is the remains of the Winding engine beds and to the north of Violet engine hose is the capstan and dynamo, well the remains of at least. The area you have probably walked to this cache was the old railway line to take the iron ore from these workings and back to the main line. There is a whole manner of wildlife around the area with plenty of deer to be seen at times.
