SideTracked - Langley Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Defiant.: It's always sad to archive a Cache but the area where it was hidden is undergoing re-development.

The signs state it will reopen in August 2020, but this is a Cross Rail project and we'll looking at how on time they are its likely to extend beyond that date.

So it's time to go, maybe once the work is complete it could be replaced. (As a new Cache).

Thanks to all who have visited.

Geocache Description:

SideTracked - for the commuting GeoCacher on the go!

Originarlly placed by Lizand, it was archived due to recent DNF's and the fact they had moved away.
As the owner of other SideTracked, I wanted to bring this back to life!

The Cache is NOT placed in the grounds of the Rail Station!

This station was built on the Great Western line was built in 1838 but not opened until 1846. It was originally called Langley Marish Station, derived from the Mareys/ Maries family who once held the manor.
In 1883 Langley was served by 'underground' trains when the District Railways opened a short-lived extension over GWR tracks from Ealing Broadway to Windsor. The service was withdrawn in 1885.

The station is now the main stop for students studying at the nearby college.

Work is still taking place for the delayed MTR Crossrail service, with an extension in place on the main line west bound platform and a new lift and bridge for disability access to all platforms. Crossrail trains are expected to starting running from Reading calling at Langley in December 2019. The trains however will terminate at Paddington though as the tunnel section is no where near ready.
