Simple traditional cache in Queen Elizabeth Park Masterton
While Kawakawa has it's Hundertwasser toilets Masterton has its own Edwardian pissoir, each being a unique architectural construction, designed with the biological needs of "mankind" in mind.
It is believed that Masterton's Edwardian Pissior is the only currently functional facility of its type in New Zealand. Eight pissoir are still in opperation in Melbourne and other working examples stand in cities arround the world including London,Birmingham and Sydney.
The Masterton pissoir dating back to 1906, was taken out of commision in the 1970's and for many years laid rusting in a council yard. In 2012 the council rediscoverd it's ionic urinial and after a clean up and refurbishment the pissior was "christened" by the mayor, Garry Daniel at a formal opening on 16 November 2012.
For the curious, the facility has two booths with modern plumbing as well as up to date hand clensing apparatus.
The cache is located a discrete distance from the pissoir and it is unlikely that geocachers will be challenged for loitering.
Please use stealth when locating and replacing the cache.
