Near the corner of the path you will need to hop up the bank and head toward the fence. Near the fence you will find Oshawott hiding in the middle of a tree.
Oshawott is the Water-type Starter Pokémon of the Unova region. Its classification is the Sea Otter Pokémon. It has the ability Torrent, like all of the previous Water-type starters.
Oshawott is a mammalian sea-otter-like Pokémon. It has fur covering it entire body, with white fur on its face and arms, light blue fur on its torso and it has a dark blue tail, feet and ears. It also has an odd scallop attached to its stomach called a "scalchop," which is made of keratin (the same substance as human fingernails) and can be removed from the body for specific attacks, such as Razor Shell, and can be used to deflect attacks. Ash's Oshawott is known to be a clown-like Pokemon.

About the walkway!
Location
Waikaraka Walk is located just a few kilometres outside Whangarei City, inland from Onerahi, towards the Whangarei Heads, and traverses the hills that frame the northern side of Whangarei Harbour. (This can be confusing, as many maps show the tiny settlement of Waikaraka, which nestles right on the beach along Whangarei Heads Road).
You can walk Waikaraka Walkway uphill from the end of Cartwright Road, Onerahi, or downhill from Mount Tiger Road.
Cartwright Road – turn into Cartwright Road opposite the shopping area. The track entrance is at the end of the road next to Kings Kauri Scenic Reserve.
Mount Tiger Road – turn off Whareora Road on to Mount Tiger Road. A car park, sign and stile indicate the beginning of the track.
Description
Follow the orange walkway marker posts along the fence line along the ridge. The track then heads down into the pine block. You can enjoy a panoramic view of the city and harbour from this high vantage point (280m). The walkway then follows a clay road, which is steep in places. There is a block of native forest on the right with pine trees dominant on the left. A metal forest road then winds gently down, moving out of the Forest Products block at the locked gate.
The walk offers excellent views of Whangarei Harbour. The Whangarei Harbour Marine Reserve came into being on the 18th of October 2006 and comprises two sites – Waikaraka and around Motukaroro/Passage Island at Reotahi.
