Geocache Description:

This is one of a planned mini-series based on Alice in Wonderland and an addition to the caches in East Leake, linking up existing caches along the walking route you would take anyway! This one is slightly to the east of the village using a bridleway which is an extension of Lantern Lane where the schools are located.

Parking in East Leake is in the centre of the village where there are currently free car parks and access to all the caches is easy. You can park on Lantern Lane to be closer to the caches on the N.East of the village but if you do this one on a school day, please be considerate to parents and residents and watch out for children! PLEASE NOTE - the footpath/Byeway up Lantern Lane is currently closed due to building new houses. the access is now via the bridleway/byeway off to the right Sheepwash Lane. you have to go quite a long way down the track until you find a stile on the left and across the horse fields. around the school playing field and rejoin Lantern Lane further along. It has stiles but is dog accessible but not pushchair - unless you lift it over. In the summer it is dry and relatively easy walking but in winter or after rain the bridleway is a gooey mixture of mud and horse manure. Kids will love it but it can be quite hard walking with mud to the tops of wellies! The cache is located approximately 2/3 of the way along the track as it goes up the hill. It is a small box containing a log, pencil and small swaps for children. It will take Trackables and Geocoins. You can be sure of good mobile phone reception here. Please rehide the cache carefully to prevent animals moving it. Alice Link In Chapter VII ‘A Mad Tea Party’ -of Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ -, Alice encounters the Mad Hatter, the Dormouse and the March Hare who is more interested in drinking tea and riddles than doing what hares do! Let’s hope that you see some real hares in the fields up here –especially in March!
