Aahhh, High School - what a time: (1998-2001)
This is hidden along the drive I made each day to school. Looking back now, I can't believe this is the road a new teen driver had to drive daily!
Socially, I have extremely awesome memories.
Academically, those memories are a little above just so-so.
Athletically though...All 4 years I was the MVP of this sport: Fast-Pitch. As a Freshman, I played catcher simply because nobody else would step up to do it. I threw many people out at the bases and kept the fielders informed with the stats. Since my real passion was left or center field, as a Sophomore, I controlled the outfield - throwing out quite a few batters at home plate! In my junior year, I never struck out! I had the best batting average in decades. In my senior year, I was elected to be on the League of Independent Schools All-Star Team.
On the field, I always felt like a different person; like nothing else mattered but the game. People could hear me shouting encouragements while they ran the track! I continued to play until I was 22 years old and am still wanting to get back into slow-pitch adult league. I always say "when work settles down, I'll join..." Well it's been 8 years now :/
