Geocache Description:

Ode to the spiders.

During my introduction to geocaching in December 2006, the first cache I was looking for produced a horrible spider. That made me decide to become SpiderFinder. Most people will kill a spider on site, but that is not really necessary.  This cache refers to the Cork-lid trapdoor spider. The cache was inspired by the very clever way this spider builds its nest and then waits for an unsuspecting passerby (insect) that will trigger the spider to strike with lightning speed and catch its prey. There are some very good video clips on the internet showing the speed of these spiders. Its venom is not dangerous to humans at all. They grow to a size of between 15 to 43 mm, are usually dark brown to reddish black.  There are 42 species of this spider found all over South Africa.

The cache is a small plastic container hiding in the spiders nest. Too small for trade. BYOP.

THE CACHE IS NOT INSIDE AN ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION, METER OR WATER METER BOX!
