Geocache Description:

Camofluaged 15 ml tube container, containing only a logbook, and hidden in the edge of the new parkland area, with new tree planting around the margins.  Easily accessible from local roads and footpaths. The cache is located at the margin of the parkland and a few metres away from the gravelled pathway.

An easy walk and readily accessible from the adjacent parkland. This new parkland area is developed on the hillside above the new housing estate and is adjacent to the existing open grassy parkland of Gorse Covert. There is a gravelled pathway around the parkland, which is accessible to the general public. It has a play area for children and is popular with dogwalkers. Parking is easy in nearby residential streets off Maxwell Drive and along Francis Drive, or on Darwin Crescent (in the new housing estate). The area is very popular with dog walkers and with children visiting the play areas so stealth may be required at some times.

Nearby Gorse Covert is not actually "gorse-covered" - in fact there is not a gorse bush in sight., but it is a local beauty spot with fine views over Loughborough, the Soar Valley to the north, and to the Charnwood Hills and Beacon Hill to the south. This is a lovely place for a family picnic and a nice play area for children, with a large open grassy space. The new parkland being developed adjacent to Gorse Covert will in time also be a great place for the family, and has fenced off  swings and play areas for tyhe children. Both Gorse Covert and the new park area are great places for kite flying on a windy day. The nearby woodland contains some fine tall oaks and ashes and is a haven for wildlife. In spring and summer the green woodpeckers make their presence heard with there "hammering" and "laughing calls". You will see and hear thrushes, blackbirds, blue tits, great tits, long-tailed tits, coal tits, wrens, robins, chaffinches, greenfinches and treecreepers as well. Buzzards, kestrals and sparrowhawks frequently can be seen hunting in the area, or you can weatch them soaring on thermals above the hill on a warm day. If you are lucky you might even spot a badger or fox in the evening or early morning.

There are several other caches nearby, including in the Gorse Covert - Revisited  (GC2TCB7), Atomic Family (GC3V0CN), Euro Crisis (GC3TZJY), Paradise Lost (GC238P5), Baloo's 1000 (GC3HC07), Stumped Again (GC3WAFN) and Tea,Early Grey, Hot (GC1D357)
