L'any 1992 Banyoles va ser subseu olímpica dels Jocs Olímpics de Barcelona'92 en la modalitat de rem. En homenatge a aquesta efemèride us proposem una ruta alternativa a la volta a l'estany tot gaudint dels paratges del voltant del pla de Can Morgat pertanyents al municipi de Porqueres. Cada un dels catxes d'aquesta petita sèrie pertany a una modalitat de rem olímpic. Les imatges que il·lustren cada embarcació formen part dels Jocs Olímpics disputats a Londres l'estiu del 2012, excepte les modalitats 2+ i 4+.
Què és el rem?
El rem és un dels més antics esports olímpics en el qual els atletes competeixen els uns contra altres en rius o llacs, mitjançant embarcacions que són impulsades per les forces de reacció sobre pales de rems que s'empenyen contra l'aigua.
Dins del rem olímpic es troben dues modalitats:
Rem en punta : cada esportista propulsa l'embarcació amb un sol rem, sigui de la banda d'estribord o de babord. Amb el rem de punta es pot remar en diferents embarcacions: 2-, 2+, 4-, 4+ i 8+. D'aquestes modalitats només el 2-, el 4- i el 8+ són modalitats olímpiques, tot i això també hem inclòs el 2+ i el 4+ en la sèrie de catxes.
Rem en couple: El rem en couple o scull és la modalitat de rem en la que l'esportista aplica la força amb dos rems, un a cada mà. Hi ha diferents modalitats de "couple"; l'individual o skiff (1x), el doble scull (2x) i el quatre scull (4x).
In 1992 Banyoles was co-host in the '92 Barcelona Olympics in the form of rowing. In honor of this event we suggest an alternative route around the lake enjoying the scenery around Can Morgat plan, which belong to the municipality of Porqueres. Each cache in this small serie belong to a kind of Olympic rowing. The images that illustrate each boat are part of the Olympics played in London in the summer of 2012, except for the 2 + and 4 + modes.
What is rowing?
The rowing is one of the oldest Olympic sports where athletes compete against each other on rivers or lakes with boats that are driven by the forces of reaction bladed oars are pushed against the water.
There are two forms of rowing:
In sweep or sweep-oar rowing: each athlete propels the boat with a single oar, either the port or starboard side. In this form rowing boats can be different: 2 -, 2 +, 4 -, 4 + and 8 +. Of these forms only 2 -, 4 - and 8 + are Olympic modalities, however we have also included the 2 + and 4 + in the cache serie.
In sculling: In this form the rower uses the force with two oars, one in each hand. There are different types of "couple"; individual or skiff (1x), double scull (2x) and four scull (4x).
