The Douro river has it source in the "Picos de Urbión" in the Soria province of Spain. It is one of the biggest Iberian rives with It has a length of 897 kilometers. Throughout the ages it has been used as important trade routes and an icon of economic development. Just before entering Portugal, it is natural border of 112 kilometers between the two iberian countries. In the Spanish part it has the "
Arribes de Duero Natural Park" an in the Portuguese part it has the "
Parque Nacional do Douro Internacional". Both of these unique landscapes and local wildlife are protected and a heritage of humanity.
This cache is located at one of the hundreds of bridges that cross this river along its course. From the cache's spot a number of birds can be seen flying into their nests, which are located in natural shelters of rock.
After leaving the car parked at the recomended location, you can easily walk to the cache. Near the parking you will find the "
Ermida Del Cristo De San Esteban" . This religious building is from either the end's of the XII or the beginnings of the XIII centuries.
The cache is a small "lock and lock" container and it has a travel bug for the FTF. To find it, just walk along the dirt track and when you get to the wall, it is on the other side, to the left, under a big stone. The cache is not in the wall, so please do not destroy it. The cache was hidden by
