Each of the 33 caches is named for a Manitoba community. Most are traditional caches. Two are multi caches where the final is hanging in a shrub directly across the road from the given coordinates. (Read that last sentence again to be sure you understand.) Ten of the caches are puzzles. There are ditches to cross and they may occasionally be wet or snowy - dress accordingly. Above all, we encourage you to enjoy this beautiful area with its multitude of kettle lakes (prairie sloughs) and the critters that call them home.
Provincial capital, the city of Winnipeg is home to more than half the population of Manitoba. Built at the junction of the Assiniboine and Red Rivers, the city was plagued by periodic flooding until the 1960s and the construction of the Red River Floodway. Although it was completed on time and under budget, it is more likely that the reason the floodway was declared a National Historic Site of Canada in 2000 was its effectiveness at preventing the destruction of city properties.
