A small cache on the opposite side of Gowerton train station, containing a log, pencil and several items.
Do not attempt to cross the railway tracks to get to this cache since there is no access from the station itself.
Gowerton station (Welsh: Tre-gŵyr) was opened as Gower Road by the South Wales Railway in August 1854. It was later renamed Gowerton, following a request to the railway company by the parish vestry, and from 1950 became known as Gowerton North to distinguish it from the Gowerton South railway station which served the now closed Pontarddulais to Swansea Victoria section of the Heart of Wales Line until 1964.
Gowerton station now only has one platform. However, work began in 2012 on plans to reopen the closed platform to allow more trains to stop there.
Got all that? Trains stopping at Gowerton take you either east to Swansea or west through Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire. If you want a train to stop you have to put your hand out as though you were hailing a bus – however some trains go through at high speed and are not scheduled to stop even if you try.
As always if you visit the station itself please take care near railway lines and supervise any children in your group. Parking available at the end of Fairwood Terrace near the start of a marked footpath.
