Geocache Description:

The city of Hamilton opened eight beautiful new elementary schools in 2009-2010, but in the process had to sell or demolish all the old schools that are nostalic for many of us. Due to this I've decided to a series of caches over the next few months honoring these schools. I liked the Presidential theme that they had and so, this series is named accordingly.

Jefferson was built in 1950 and most of it was demolished in April of 2010 at 60 years of age. One wing, which was a newer addition I believe, was sold to a local church (I've heard for as low as a dollar but that is unconfirmed) and is the only portion of the school left standing. As an employee of the Hamilton City School District, I had the oppertunity to move out many of these old buildings before they were demolished and I spent a lot of time in Jefferson. I swear this place had rooms with rooms and those rooms had hidden rooms and all of them had things hidden somewhere that did not want to leave. This school was never ending but it was beautiful as well. Connected to Jefferson was a separate building called the Annex and it was a gorgeous older building that I would have LOVED to have seen survive. Oh, and bats... there were tons and tons of bats hidden in parts of Jefferson, such as the chimney stack.

Now half of this land belongs to a church and the other half is an open field for the neighborhood to do with as they please.
