Geocache Description:

At the end of Nez Perce Road overlooking aricultural fields.

The subdivision to the south of this road is known as Indian Meadows. In the mid-1980s it was forcefully annexed into the city by the city council, Most of the council was replaced in the city election of November 1985, but the annexation stood. Most of the streets have names associated with native americans. Many of the local names come from the french fur trappers. Some of the more common ones include:

Coeur d'Alene (Core-duh-lane) - meaning "heart of the awl"; perhaps hard-hearted or shrewd, supposedly a reference to the shrewd bargaining of the tribe.

Pend Oreille (Pawn-doe-ray) - meaning "pendant of the ear" or earring.

Nez Perce (In French "Nay-per-say") - Meaning "nose piercers". The Nez Perce were instrumental in saving the Lewis-Clark expedition in the very early spring of 1805. As the "Corps of Discovery" crossed the Bitterroot Mountains and headed west into the Columbia River basin, they had completely ran out of food - even eating their horses. Tribal legend has it that some proposed killing the expedition, but on the revelation of an elderly woman's dream, they assisted the Corps. They provided fish (salmon), horses and canoes.

GZ overlooks aricultural fields that will one day be developed and annexed into the city. Elevation 2246 +/-. Bring your own pen. Congratulations Team Nimrod for FTF!

Please use care when opening & closing this watertight $8 container! The first one barely made it 3 weeks before the hinge got broken. Please be gentle opening and closing. Thank you!
