When I started Geocaching in 2009 it was a great opportunity to go adventuring with my two Bernese Mountain Dogs, Titan and Gigi. They loved to go because everywhere we went was exciting. They learned quickly what a walk was and what a caching outing was, because as soon as I stopped and went off trail they'd sit and wait patiently for me to be done. They'd wag their massive fuzzy tails upon my return and we'd move on to the next.
This is Gigi. Unfortunately her caching days ended in January 2012 when she began a long battle with knee injuries and Systemic Lupus. Once this dog would hike the highest mountains, go on 8 mile caching walks, and romp and play like a puppy. She loved this park and often we'd end up here after our adventures and she'd chew on her buddy Titan before heading just up the street to home. Sadly this corner spot is as far as Gigi would walk recently, as the Lupus flared again and complicated her dual knee surgery recovery.
Today, August 10th, 2012, we said goodbye to Gigi. She was only 5 years old, which is not old, even for a big dog. She helped me place this cache on one of her final outings today. This picture is her at the cache site.
Please find this cache with your best furry friend and hug them. Would love any stories of your favorite best friend.
