TEN THOUSAND finds is quite a milestone and the team reaching this, Sportsman01 and Crew, are a great asset to geocaching in many ways. We would like to congratulate them and thank them for all their efforts. They have been mentors for us!
This acronym comes from Things We Learned From Sportsman01. Before we became friends with Sportsman01 and Crew we still knew some things about geocaching but just not the details and the real importance they play.
This series brings out just a few of the items which you should carry and know how to use if you plan on doing serious outback caching. Most cachers recognize these items but there are times we forget and those times can cost us dearly!
The series consists of 9 caches and a hike of 3-4 kilometers along a well marked trail and road. When doing them you should be prepared for all cases so practice using some of these items. There is parking along the power line frontage trail so you will be off the roads, there are large trucks passing frequently.
Help yourself to any of the swag if you need it and don't worry about replacement.
This cache is about the compass! When heading into the woods be sure to remember that GPS runs on batteries and can breakdown so a compass is a necessity and could save your life. Be sure you understand how to use it and practice using it often. Red in the bed is an important phrase from Sporty!
