Summer of 2012, the Assault on Briones begins!
First, Las Trampas, then Mt Diablo, then Morgan Territory, then Shell Ridge. We have such amazing regional park opportunities here in the East Bay, and caching can take us to all of them. We Redheads have been moving from one park to the next, but Briones is special.
Almost 200 caches in the area, using over 15 different trailheads, dozens of different trails, reaching from up in Martinez, to Pleasant Hill, to Lafayette, to Briones Reservoir itself in Orinda, and we're taking them down, one cache at a time. It even has its own 70 cache power trail. And while we were on our Briones Assault this summer of 2012, many others Briones Caching Commandos were actively hustling the trails too – Blue Blaze Irregulars, Nozy Nabors, Alkhalikoi, Cycling Cachers, Woof!, following the footsteps of those prolific cachers before them.
This cache is part of the Assault on Briones Series, a collection of 5 caches, scattered around the park during our trek this summer. The first 4 caches are Traditionals, representing North, Sound, East and Western Briones. The 5th is the Assault on Briones Finale – only accessible via letter codes from the other 4 – and it comes with prizes to the first cachers to get there. In order to access the finale, you MUST record the letter code from each container.
Become a Briones Caching Commando – you won't regret it!
