Something for Everyone...

Isaac Hale Beach Park, also known as Pohoiki is an oceanfront park, boat launch and surf location along Pohoiki Bay in the Puna district of the Big Island of Hawaii. It is only one of a few places in the Southeast shore of Hawaii that allows for such facilities. Pohoiki Bay is known for its strong currents and although the park is known for good snorkeling, conditions are usually not ideal. The park was expanded and modernized in 2006. The park is named in honor of Private Isaac K. Hale. During the Korean War, Hale served in the United States Army's 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He was killed in action north of the 38th parallel on July 12, 1951. ¹

Here's the trick to caching in Hawaii... pretend you are taking pictures (or take them)!! The majority of locals won't even notice you there if you are taking pictures and the ones that do will simply shake their head and mutter "Tourists, they'll take pictures of anything!" We have to have MINIMUM speed limits here because visitors tend to go too slow while looking at everything!

Includes a log sheet but you must BYOP (bring your own pen)! Cache is larger than a micro but smaller than a small!!
