Geocache Description:

Congrats Geogerms on your rather interesting FTF!!

"The Airplane ledge is a unique dive site for Hawaii because of the opportunity to see a wreck, as well as a natural reef on the same dive. The sunken airplane at the airplane ledge is a Beech 18. This twin engine small passenger aircraft was intentionally sunk at this location in the early 1990's. This aircraft was originally one of three sunk in this location. Hurricane Iwa scattered them.

Two were never found and the Beech was in deeper water. Two intrepid souls rigged her with lines and she was “flown” to her current resting place. Unfortunately, she 'landed' wrong side up. Over the years it has become a very unique habitat for hundreds of tropical fish that divers can see through cracks in the plane's wings and fuselage. The surrounding reef forms a large horseshoe around the sunken craft and provides great habitat for scores of fish and other wildlife. This is an excellent multi-level dive."

This area is a common diving spot for tourists and locals both. There is also a charter that runs through here that you can catch on it's way to looking for the intentionally sunk airplane named "Airplane Ledge". While we were out there today we seen numourous divers and also a very active dolphin that jumped in and out of the water for about 5 minutes. The Parking Lot hours are from 5am - 10pm.

The cache is not OVER the cliff. You will NOT have to climb down at anytime. You can walk right up to it from the path. FTF Prize is a FTF pin. Enjoy!!
