Geocache Description:

This cache is being used to encourage people to explore the community of Sanquhar, connect with its varied history and experience it's fantastic scenery. This cache highlights all of these attributes with a visit to Sanquhar Castle (now a ruin). This community is part of the Day of the Region celebration and this cache is a small way to encourage you to be part of it too!!

To get to the cache site, from the A76 road, park up near to the bus stop/eme furniture sign on your left (coming from Dumfries).  You can follow the path or go through the bridle gate and along the 'desire line' amongst the trees.  The cache site is on the approach to the castle.

This site was visited regularly by William Wallace during the wars of independance !!
