This 330mL cylindrical cache is all about refreshing beverages. It is not located at the published coordinates.
What is located at the published coordinates, however, is a tap that provides free water to the public. It was installed by the adjacent business, which also produces a very refreshing beverage, and supplies water sourced from a deep underground spring - the same spring water that is used by the business to produce their beverage.
One morning in April 1998, the Otago Daily Times reported that until noon that day, beer would be freely flowing from the tap instead of water. Queues formed around the block, the promise of free beer attracting hopefuls from as far away as Queenstown and Christchurch. They all left disappointed, and perhaps a little embarrassed, but they at least went away with a smile.
Here's hoping you take a smile away with you too... Cheers!
