Geocache Description:

OVENBIRD Small container with log book, no room for swag. Located in U of M Dearborn's Environmental Area (once part of Henry Ford's estate). Close to one of Henry Ford's old cellars.

Area closes at dusk.

This is part of the RRBC (River Rouge Bird Caches) series. This area is a special place, often referred to "an island of green in the middle of cities". This "island" attracts migrating birds, and because of its various habitats, there is a great diversity of bird species that can be found year round here.

The cache you are looking for is dedicated to a bird you could find here, the ovenbird. It was called that because its nest looks like the ancient outdoor ovens. Bring your binoculars, especially in May. This is a great place to learn birdwatching. Cache left with permission of the Supervisor of Natural Areas of U of M Dearborn. CONGRATULATIONS TO FTF, GIFT HORSE, WHO FOUND MY "HARD ONE" ON HIS LUNCH BREAK!
