Geocache Description:

With the passing of Ray Bradbury (1920 – 2012), We mourn and celebrate the life and works of our greatest inspiration.

For Mr. Bradbury knew Villages…

In the hustling, buying and selling of realty, many might think the peopling of houses is a random phenomenon. We know better. We know that in the massing of community, the elements are chosen. We are truly called to community. And over time that community value is enhanced through the palpable effect of the milieu surrounding us, cradling us like pebbles in a glove. And as We sleep at night, the miasma seeps under our windows, through our nostrils, and deep into our bellies; the flying insects that entered our thresholds with us during the day now inject us. Very shortly, We are One.

And Mr. Bradbury taught us to know Science…

And We were able to find ways to capture this essence and store it for later use and for transporting. We found ways to harness the power lines that are strung nearby, without the clumsy use of manufactured equipment. That the electromagnetic force is after all, just a fluctuating disturbance which can be called upon at will when We need to share our findings with other Villages far flung from us.

And Mr. Bradbury knew obsessions…

That We knew how to call forth others - not of the Village, that We could plant sufficient traces of essence in a device – easily retrievable - and make its presence known so that they would come, find it, open it, sign the log – thereby making themselves known to us, and thence – having opened the device - carry with them a portion of the trace. And that they would do so voluntarily, even if warned that it may be inadvisable. They could not help themselves. Perhaps at first they may be wary of discovery by the Village, but We would not begrudge them their pleasure. At the beginning it would be a single visitor of an early morning, a First to Find. And then others. Boys and girls on bikes might come and take the device. We would replace it. Word of mouth would bring more.

Each would return home and conduct what they think as a normal life. And since humans are social beings, they would manifest the joy of living. In their own time they would hug each other, shake hands, pat each other on the back, rub hands through their children’s hair, throw objects to their pets.
And in each case, the work of the Village would be furthered. It will only be a matter of time now. For, like the work of Mr. Bradbury, the work of the Village is:

A gift that keeps on giving.

Congratulations to TH for FTF (First to inFect).
