I backpacked along the Lewis River trail #31 with a group of Boy Scouts. This was the second time here, both with the Boy Scouts. In fact it was through Boy Scouts that I learned about this place. This was our last stop on a three day, two night, fifteen mile backpack trip. But you don’t have to go quite that far, you can park at the trailhead (NW Forest Pass required) and hike the short distance down to it. You can follow the trail down river and check out the Middle and Lower river falls. Although you can just about drive to the Lower river falls by turning at the Lower Falls Recreation Area. You’re looking for a small four latch camo painted container with a log only, but room for trackables and small trade items.
