Geocache Description:

Mars Science Laboratory, also known as Curiosity, is the largest rover to have been launched by NASA.

It began it's mission when it left our planet on November 27, 2011 @ 0206 (Local time), on top of an Atlas V rocket from the Space Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral.

After many months of quiet travel, it is due to land on Mars on August 6, 2012 @ 1518 (again, local time). About 14 minutes later (the time that it takes a radio signal to travel from Mars to Earth), the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex will receive a signal to say we are safely on Mars.

Australia has had a long history in the space industry, and MSL will be another notch in our belt.

It will be an opportunity to be standing meters away from the antenna's that will be receiving the first signals.

There is a lot more to read at:

http://www.cdscc.nasa.gov/
http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/msl/

There will be LOTS of people here, so I will arrange the event to start an hour and a bit  before the landing (1400). Unfortunately, some of the cachers that work at the station may not be able to spend long at the event (after all, they have a job to do that day).

I have given myself a couple of months to make sure this will go off without to many problems.

There is one cache on the eastern side of the complex, and a cache on the access road to the complex. I strongly recommend that you DO NOT attempt these caches on that day.

The coordinates are taken from google for the carpark, the log will be somewhere easy to spot.
