THE SCULPTURES
The three 13th Ave sculptural bike racks are an extension of this project. The works are a tribute to the people who live, work and play in the neighbourhood. Each work tries to capture an aspect of life in the Cathedral Village. ‘The Musicians’ is reminiscent of the annual festival; the piece features street performers and the crowded atmosphere of the annual street fair. ‘Mother and Child’ recognizes the family friendly nature of Cathedral Village Arts Festival and the diverse number of families living in the neighbourhood. It also pokes a little bit of fun of the festivals “rain or shine” motto. Finally ‘The Bicyclists’ is a tribute to the environmental consciousness that was expressed by many in the Cathedral area.
