Honorary Critcher Cache: A Cache for Andy Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden at small, overlooked region of Wissahickon Park. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND LONG PANTS as this is a high nettle, high spikey tree area. Across the street is Clifford Park, a small subset of Fairmount Park between two main roads in Northwest Philadelphia, Wissahickon and Lincoln. A great spot to get a short walk in and find the rest of our Critcher Cache series!

Congrats to NY141 for the FTF!

This cache is an "Honorary Critcher Cache." Unlike our Critcher Cache series where each cache is placed for one of our rescued cats, this cache is placed for Andy, a kitten who we rescued who didn't make it.

Andy was affectionately called "Fluffball Andy (FBA)" and he was rescued from the Philadelphia City Shelter when he was about 5 weeks old. He was surrendered as a stray and without any siblings or momma. From the beginning it was clear that something wasn't right with Andy. He was quiet, preferring to sit and watch the other cats play. He didn't have much of an appetite. He did, however, have a huge, loving purr when you held or snuggled him. We fed him extra meals through a syringe and gave him lots of extra love, but even after 6 weeks of caring for him Andy had hardly grown at all.

We don't have many photos of Andy. Here is a poor cell phone photo of him in a rare moment of play

Andy became more and more lethargic and developed difficulty breathing, despite our best efforts. An x-ray showed an enlarged heart- likely something he was born with- and we made the decision to free Andy from his ailing body.

After laying Andy to rest in the garden, Cat (of Cat_Fish) decided to take a walk to cache in the woods and clear her mind. She stopped at "To The Bat Cave" GC15MAP, a cache which she had already found, and discovered the swag below inside:

Pretty amazing, huh. She chose to trade out for the swag, and the message now sits framed on the fireplace.

The cache container itself is 2-cup rubbermaid screw top container covered in black electrical tape.

Initial Cache contents include log book, pencil (thanks NY141!), 3 Squinkie toys, a ping pong ball and a Diabetes TB (TB1BKGY)!
