Geocache Description:

This is one of a series of caches placed along the Newry Canal towpath.

The route follows the towpath of the now disused Newry Canal. Built in 1742 this canal was the first summit level canal in the British Isles.

The Newry Canal Way is a 20 mile long distance route running from Portadown to Newry along the restored towpath of the former Newry Canal. This linear walk/cycle route provides a flat, level surface suitable for all.

This area is very popular with the local muggles so please be discreet when logging the find.

The cache is regular tupperware container. It contains log and pen but probably best to byop just to be on the safe side. Please replace the cache exactly as found after logging the find. Please also replace the camo as the cache will be visible from the towpath otherwise. The terrain rating reflects the fact that there is a small bank to scramble down.
This is one of a series of caches placed on or near the the towpath between Newry and Scarva, All are designed as easy finds the aim is to bring the finder for a pleasant walk or cycle along the towpath. Bicycle is probably the best means of completing the series. You can park near the start of the towpath in Newry City (waypoint added) However if you are doing the series on foot the nearest access point to the towpath for this cache is the bridge in Scarva. Do not park on the A27 or A28 other than at dedicated access points, the land between the main road and the towpath is private property

The other caches in the series are;
The Towpath at a Snails Pace
A Lock Gate on the Towpath
The Humpback Bridge
A Tree on the Towpath
The Shack on the Towpath
Under the bridge
The Towpath (an older cache by standingbaba)
Stick it to the Towpath
Benched on the Towpath
The Towpath Rocks
The Slanted Post

Gamble's Bridge
The Crossing at Poyntzpass
Take Five
First Glimpse of Acton
Route 9 to Acton (an older cache by wildlifewriter)
