We love Sudoku puzzles. If you do too, then you may want to try this challenging, 4-stage multi, puzzle cache. Before you can find each stage, you must solve a Sudoku puzzle in order to obtain the coordinates for that stage. The first puzzle, given below, you can do at home, but the others should be done in the field.
In the container for stage 1, you will find a different Sudoku puzzle to solve for stage 2 coordinates. (You should bring with you at least 3 blank Sudoku grids on which to copy field puzzles for each stage. A link to a blank grid is given below.)
Puzzles done in the field must be done with pencil (or pen) and paper as an additional requirement for this cache. The use of electronic devices in the field to solve these puzzles is not allowed. Please note in your log that you complied with this requirement.
Please leave the Sudoku puzzles in the stage containers for the next cacher to use.
The final stage (stage 4) is the location of the cache. It is an ammo can loaded with swag for Sudoku lovers. When placed, the cache contained the following:
A log, pen, and a $2 bill for the First to Find.
A Handheld Sudoku game with batteries
A Sudoku puzzle cube
A Big Book of Sudoku puzzles
A Carbiner flashlight to use for solving Sudoku puzzles in the dark
A can cozy to keep your drink cool while solving Sudoku puzzles
The stages of this multi lie in or near the Sycamore Canyon Wilderness Park. Near the location of stage 1 is a good place to park for the rest of the stages. The hike from parking is about 1.5 to 2 miles, roundtrip. You should plan on it taking at least 2 hours to get to the final cache, depending on your ability to solve Sudoku puzzles in the field.
Remember to watch for snakes in the park while you are searching for the containers. This cache is recommended for daylight hours only.
