Geocache Description:

This series of 10 caches is hidden in Stephens State Park. The parking lot is located 1.5 miles north of Hackettstown on Route 604 (Willow Grove Street) or 7 miles west of Route 206 on Route 604, also known as Waterloo Road. *****The parking lot is NOT accessible from Stephens Park Road*****

The terrain ratings were determined in a SSP #1-10 sequence. SSP #1 is a steep, uphill climb for about .75 mile. If you choose a SSP #10-1 sequence, the longer, steep uphill climb will be between SSP #8 and SSP #5. Hints are also oriented in a #1-10 sequence.

Caches are trailside or not more than 20 feet from the trail. ^^^BOUNCY GPS IN SSP. USE WAYPOINTS AND HINTS^^^

**********FTF PRIZE IN EACH CACHE**********

For the SSP #1-10 sequence, take the Orange Trail (SSP #1) to the White Trail (SSP #2-4) to the Blue Trail (SSP #5) to the Unblazed Trail (SSP #6) to the White Trail (SSP #7) to the Red/White Trail (SSP #8) to the Red Trail (SSP #9-10).

***Hunting is allowed in SSP, so plan accordingly***

The Ranger Station and NICE restrooms are found at the parking lot. Picnic tables are available along the Musconetcong River, so you can enjoy a snack pre/post hike. Excellent fishing awaits on the Musky. NJ Division of Fish and Wildife stocks brown, rainbow and brook trout in the spring and fall. Family camping is available April 1 - October 31. The Highlands Trail/Patriots Path follows the Musky thru the Park and continues northeast/southwest of the Park.

The NY/NJ Trail Conference Map #126 (Jersey Highlands Trails Central North Region) would be helpful to find these caches as well as the caches in nearby Allamuchy Mountain State Park.

If you continued on the White Trail, it would lead you to the TMR #1-10 series (see GC3C6CA - TMR #1). The White Trail is about 10 miles long!!

Enjoy your hike, your collection of smileys and a bite to eat by the river. You'll see why Stephens is one of my favorite parks!!

Thanks to Marsena P. and Augustus W. Stephens who gave the land to the State in 1937 for park purposes!!
