Geocache Description:

This is a multi that takes you on a tour of St. Paul Cemetery. You will visit the resting place of the first archbishop of Oregon City and the Nun's Corner. You do not need to leave the grounds. The cache is small. BYOP and no room for swag. Usual cemetery restrictions apply so please be respectful of both living and dead, and visit only during daylight hours.

Cache number 20 inspired by a list of 100 must-read novels I discovered last year. It is not necessary to have read the book to find the cache. There is something about the location that makes me think of the novel.

Written in 1913, D.H. Lawrence’s “Sons And Lovers” is a semi-autobiographical work that explores the relationship between Paul Morel and his mother, who is trapped in an unfortunate marriage. As he grows to manhood, Paul’s love for his mother interferes with his relationships with both his childhood sweetheart, Miriam, and his married mistress, Clara. The crisis comes after his mother’s death. In the meantime, Paul takes it upon himself to educate Miriam, thrusting her into the confusion of algebra which is beyond her understanding, but which she struggles to master in order to please him.

Algebra, put simply, is a branch of mathematics where letters or symbols are used to replace numbers. This, therefore, is a straightforward multi that requires you to collect numbers and use them in place of the letters given (a fairly standard multi!).

To calculate the final location, collect the required information from the waypoints and substitute the letters for numbers:
